Poor Charlie’s Almanack – Lessons learnt from Charlie Munger’s life pt 2

This post will focus on some of the key take-aways from Charlie Munger’s book:Poor Charlie’s Almanack: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger, Expanded Third Edition.

  1. It is said that Charlie never complained about the amount of work that he has and always did his best to finish his work.
    1. He is known to say “The best source of new legal work is the work on your desk.” – this is incredible advice because in the age of unicorns and IPOs, it has been a race to “get there” instead of getting there the right way
  2. I was shocked to find how charitable Charlie Munger is:
    1. “When left [the law firm that he started -Munger, Tolles & Olson], he didn’t take his share of the firm’s capital. Instead, he directed that his share go to the estate of his younger partner, Fred Warder, who left behind a wife and children when he died of cancer.
      1. Given Charlie’s current position, one would assume that he really hustled to get to where he is today and hurt a lot of people today (the image I have of investment banker – which could be wrong), but it definitely seems like he was out to help others and he still achieved incredible financial success.
